TRAVEL - U.S. VISIT (BUSINESS) VISAS:

We urge all prospective attendees to the 2024 U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas to immediately take steps to ensure they have proper travel documentation - to include a U.S. entry visa if not eligible for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).  As USABS2024 is a business conference, the appropriate visa is likely to be a B-1 "Business Visit" visa. Please visit the website for the U.S. Embassy in your country and navigate to their "Visas" page for more details on applying for a U.S. business visitor visa.

General information to obtain a U.S. entry visa is available on the U.S. State Department U.S. Visas Website.

Visa interview appointment wait times remain very long at many U.S. embassies - it is important that USABS2024 plan for an extended time period for visa application and processing procedures, so investigate the process and submit your application early to the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate.  Some U.S. Embassies offer expedited renewal of visas for current visit visa holders, as well as expedited appointments for established business travelers attending events such as USABS2024.

Registration for USABS2024 does not / not guarantee visa eligibility and issuance, nor entry into the United States.

VISA WAIVER PROGRAM:

For those traveling to the US without a visa from Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries, an electronic passport (e-Passport) is required as well as a valid ESTA approval from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Learn which countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and apply for an ESTA authorization here: https://www.esta.us/visa-waiver-countries.  This website includes information on restrictions to use of the VWP for nationals of eligible countries, and details on procedures to be followed by and with airlines.

A valid ESTA approval is required for all VWP travelers who are entering the United States by air or sea.  If approved, the authorization is good for two years and can be renewed. Travelers no longer have to fill out an I-94W form before each trip.

Notice: Nationals of VWP countries who are also nationals of or who have traveled on or after 1 March 2011 to Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria are no longer eligible to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. These individuals will still be able to apply for a visa using the regular immigration process. Learn more to determine if you are affected.

Please note: this is general information / guidance on U.S. entry visa and ESTA requirements, and always subject to change by U.S. authorities. CCA strongly recommends that attendees contact their local U.S. embassy or consulate to ensure they have proper documentation.

ADDITIONAL VISA INFORMATION:

  • Each registrant is responsible for securing his / her own Visa to attend the Summit.

  • The United States does not process “visas on arrival” so travelers must have valid travel documentation when boarding aircraft to travel to the United States.
