Lungisa is the Chief Executive Officer for Africa Regions and Offshore at Standard Bank, overseeing the Group’s operations across 19 markets in Africa outside South Africa, along with the offshore hubs. His strategic leadership is instrumental in driving growth and innovation across these diverse regions.

Prior to this role, Lungisa served as Group Head: Public Policy and Regulation, and Regional Chief Executive for South and Central Africa, managing a portfolio of seven countries—Botswana, eSwatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. His deep understanding of regional dynamics and unwavering commitment to excellence significantly advanced Standard Bank’s footprint and influence.

Lungisa is the former Chief Executive of the Standard Bank of South Africa, a position he held for over six and a half years, during which he steered the bank’s operations. Before joining the financial sector, he spent two decades in public service, including serving as Director-General at the South African National Treasury, where his contributions shaped national policies and economic strategies.

In addition to his executive roles, Lungisa is an active board member, serving on the Stanbic Botswana and Zambia Boards. His commitment to social and economic development is further reflected in his role as Council member for Walter Sisulu University and a former member of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) and Business Against Crime (BAC) Boards.
